One More Thing to Share

https://sites.google.com/
Google Sites is one of the Internet Tools that Dr. Rivera provided for us. Now that I already finished the assignment for my 3 selected tools, I decided to check out the rest on the list. Google Sites is one excellent Internet Tool with Club Site, Project Wiki, Classroom, Family website, etc. Just to share what I have learned about it.

The most import person who drives the class is the teacher. The teach as you can see in this clip is the main factor to the students education. As teachers we must perfect our crafts so that our students can keep up in an every changing world. This episode of the "Inside man" shows a class and how we as teacher can make our class more immersive rather than passive. We must try to steer away from our old ways of teaching and embrace new techniques and work with each other collaboratively so we can have more successful schools.

Website

Oxford Owl (Helping your Child's reading)

http://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/FunIdeas

This is a great website for teachers and children. I just found this website this morning and I thought since I have already did my last IRA website I thought it will be good to share it with you all. I hope you all find it useful and helpful for your students.

A vision for 21st Century Learning

This video is about "teachers become mentors, students become empowered and ultimately students learn through technology in the classroom." Students are digital natives and we cannot underestimate the ways in which they are motivated to and best suited to learn. This video touches on the idea of gamification to motivate, instruct and engage students.

Reflective Decision Maker

We all know that "to become a reflective decision maker" is one of the elements of SOE Conceptual Framework. In the process of learning, we always have some positive or frustrating encounters that help us become better reflective decision makers. Here’s my recent experience. I posted in the Moodle forum a website name and its URL for IRA project website #6. I had read through all the pages of the website and was happy to have found it. However, when I was about to do the write-up within 24 hours, the website was completely inaccessible. It was unfortunate but I couldn’t stay stuck with that. There is a dateline to follow and there are so many other available literacy websites out there. I started the search all over again and completed the assignment in time. Instead of being stressed out, I look at the whole incident as a facilitator for me to become a better reflective decision maker.

Technology for the First Week

The website below gives three ideas for integrating technology during the first week of school. I really like the one where students interview different people around the school, such as the principal, secretary, librarian, etc. However, if students are not able to do it, I would modify it in a way that I would do the recordings and create a video that introduces the school personnel. This is a fun and creative way to get students oriented with important individuals around the school.

Teach what's Essential.

Quote and Illustration from: tips.atozteacherstuff.com

Teachers teach their expertise on their students. Most of the time, some educators fails to stress the real importance of a subject matter, they usually focus on the superficial flow of things on their subject. We must not forget to teach our students the real value and the importance of our subjects and why are we teaching it to them. Only by that way they would know the deeper value of the subject and it’s important to their lives.
